Global Harvard Case Competition

600+ Teams; 2500+ Students; 100+ Universities co-organized by IFSA and Harvard GSAS Business Club; with a prize pool of $10,000, the Global Case Competition at Harvard (GCCH) is one of the world’s most prestigious case competitions organized by students (CFI, 2022)

Its aim is to bring together the best students of economics and finance throughout the world and provide them with an incredible opportunity to learn and interact with other students from across the world, cultivate a powerful network, and engage with professionals within the industries of management and finance.

IFSA Traders Cup

The world’s largest trading challenge organized by students. 300+ Teams; 1000+ participants; 20+ countries. Using a simulated platform on Marketwatch, the competition provides a unique opportunity for students to prove their trading skills whilst learning more on the field

This competition was aimed to allow participants to compete and cooperate with students from elite universities within our network, create and manage their portfolio, showcase their skills to the world and get noticed by professionals.

Process Mining Workshop

By partnering with Celonis, IFSA organized a Process Automation workshop. Involved participants learned from a workshop and further took part in a bootcamp to enhance their knowledge.

This competition was aimed to allow participants to compete and cooperate with students from elite universities within our network, create and manage their portfolio, showcase their skills to the world and get noticed by professionals.

ROTTERDAM EVENTS

ESG Investing

Environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) investing has been one of the hot topics in finance for the past couple of years. It refers to the investment decisions made based on ethical considerations for the environmental and social issues. ESG Investing is not only deemed more sustainable, but also showed significant returns. In collaboration with AMSA, we invited speakers from BlackRock and NN Investment Partners who specialize in ESG investing. During the event, we found out more about how an investment opportunity is evaluated according to ESG standards and what are some challenges this niche is facing.

“IFSA Talks” with Isabelle Wijnolst

In the first speaker event of the academic year 21/22, IFSA Rotterdam hosted an online event with Isabelle Wijnolst, an Executive Director from JP Morgan in the New York Debt Capital Markets (DCM) office. In a moderated conversation, students got the opportunity to learn about Isabelle’s journey, what drives her, and what advice she has for students that aspire to follow a similar career path. The event was concluded in a Q&A session, in which students inquired about Isabelle’s view on macroeconomic development and equality within the financial services industry.

Stock Market November Seminars

In November 2022, IFSA Rotterdam hosted a month-long session of weekly seminars. In each seminar, students had the opportunity to learn about the stock market, its origins, how it works, and the various financial products that are traded on it. The seminars were hosted in collaboration with Finance Network FNI, one of the biggest German investment clubs, that offers its members further education in the fields of Finance, Investment Products, and Capital Markets.

AI in Finance Workshop with Epoch and AMSA

In an unprecedented collaboration with Team Epoch from the Technical University Delft and the Asset Management Student Association Rotterdam (AMSA), IFSA Rotterdam hosted a workshop on Artificial Intelligence and its applications in finance. Team Epoch is an Artificial Intelligence Dream Team from TU Delft, that competes in online AI competitions, ranging from fields such as healthcare, transportation, sports, or business. During the workshops, students had the opportunity to learn from experienced AI engineers about how Artificial Intelligence works, its application in the financial services industry, and the potential pitfalls of the technology.

CAN Speed Networking Event

One of the first events that IFSA Rotterdam organized for the academic year 21/22 was an online speed networking session in collaboration with CAN Rotterdam. CAN is a student initiative that facilitates intellectual exchanges and networking among students. With a registered attendance of 40+ students, this was a great opportunity for students to get a head-start to the academic year, after a year of covid putting the brakes on social interaction.

Valuation Workshop at International Business Fair

In collaboration with International Student Rotterdam (ISR), IFSA Rotterdam took part in organizing the annual International Business Fair (IBF). The yearly career event at Erasmus University Rotterdam is focused on the university’s international cohort and connects over 300 students with over 15 companies. Last year, participating companies included the likes of Amazon, DHL, and BNP Paribas, with the aim of providing career opportunities. As part of IBF, IFSA Rotterdam hosted a workshop on stock valuations in which students had the opportunity to become familiar with the fundamental analysis of equities.
