This competition was aimed to allow participants to compete and cooperate with students from elite universities within our network, create and manage their portfolio, showcase their skills to the world and get noticed by professionals.

Process Mining Workshop

By partnering with Celonis, IFSA organized a Process Automation workshop. Involved participants learned from a workshop and further took part in a bootcamp to enhance their knowledge.

This competition was aimed to allow participants to compete and cooperate with students from elite universities within our network, create and manage their portfolio, showcase their skills to the world and get noticed by professionals.

ROTTERDAM EVENTS

Commodity Trading

Commodity trading is a key driver of global markets, requiring expertise in risk management and market analysis. To explore this dynamic field, IFSA Rotterdam and the Erasmus Commodity & Trade Centre hosted a Commodity Trading Panel Talk with industry leaders Martijn Bron (ex-Cargill) and Daan Vriens (CEO, Cefetra Group), where they shared insights on market trends, career opportunities, and the challenges of trading commodities in a rapidly evolving landscape. The event featured an interactive Q&A, allowing students to engage with experts and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.

Investing in Renewable Energy Workshop

IFSA Rotterdam and WBN hosted a session on financing renewable energy, featuring Daniel Howley, a Project Finance Renewables Analyst at Rabobank. The event explored how financial institutions support the energy transition, discussing funding strategies, challenges, and opportunities in sustainable infrastructure investment. Attendees gained insights into the role of debt in large-scale renewable projects and the evolving landscape of green finance.

Stock Market November Seminars

In November, IFSA Rotterdam hosted a month-long session of weekly seminars. In each seminar, students had the opportunity to learn about the stock market, its origins, how it works, and the various financial products that are traded on it. The seminars were hosted in collaboration with Finance Network FNI, one of the biggest German investment clubs, that offers its members further education in the fields of Finance, Investment Products, and Capital Markets.

AI in Finance Workshop with Epoch and AMSA

In an unprecedented collaboration with Team Epoch from the Technical University Delft and the Asset Management Student Association Rotterdam (AMSA), IFSA Rotterdam hosted a workshop on Artificial Intelligence and its applications in finance. Team Epoch is an Artificial Intelligence Dream Team from TU Delft, that competes in online AI competitions, ranging from fields such as healthcare, transportation, sports, or business. During the workshops, students had the opportunity to learn from experienced AI engineers about how Artificial Intelligence works, its application in the financial services industry, and the potential pitfalls of the technology.

Personal Finance Workshop

IFSA Rotterdam hosted a Personal Finance Workshop with Moritz Müller, a finance coach from LifeVersity, to help students master budgeting, investing, and financial goal-setting. The session provided practical insights into managing money effectively, with an interactive Q&A where attendees could ask pressing finance questions. It was a valuable opportunity for students to build financial literacy and take control of their personal finances.

Valuation Workshop at International Business Fair

In collaboration with International Student Rotterdam (ISR), IFSA Rotterdam took part in organizing the annual International Business Fair (IBF). The yearly career event at Erasmus University Rotterdam is focused on the university’s international cohort and connects over 300 students with over 15 companies. Last year, participating companies included the likes of Amazon, DHL, and BNP Paribas, with the aim of providing career opportunities. As part of IBF, IFSA Rotterdam hosted a workshop on stock valuations in which students had the opportunity to become familiar with the fundamental analysis of equities.
